We complained to the company about all the problems in the villa (see below)but they failed to communicate and literally dumped us in the house and left us there to rot with the bed bugs! We are suffering to this day and will have to take legal action as they only offered us a 5% discount on any future property bookings! We wouldn't dream of booking through these people again! So that form of compensation is a joke. They refused to even refund us half of the money back. Property was too expensive considering the dire conditions. The manager unprofessionally told us lies and gave excuses about each problem and even claimed we hadn't booked the dog in when the evidence and payments for the dog were on the booking papers! This company or villa cannot be trusted and if you want a holiday from hell in or out of season, feel free to go there! I wouldn't waste my money again. EVER.

Location Local restaurant (only one open in October near the villa - Retro Gusto)

Bad service Neglected villa in off season (broken furniture and flooding shower, other health and safety issues) Unhelpful and ignorant company/agency BED BUGS infestation No screens on such an expensive property to protect from other flying bugs like mosquitos

    Terrible service and villa

b In general: /b Firstly, there were many defaults with the house itself, which with a little care and maintenance, could have been avoided. The TV was erratic in operating, and eventually on the third day of our stay, began to work! The WiFi code was not given to us until day two and only after we chased them for it. It disgusts me that information like this wasn’t available for us in the house in a welcome pack or leaflet. As we walked around the house, parts of the furniture and room fixtures fell off as we simply touched them! For example, the towel hook in the kitchen, the curtain pole in the master bedroom and the cupboard shelf in the smaller bedroom. In addition, the toilet seat was loose so we had to discard the use of the bathroom closest to the kitchen. As you can imagine, it is not comfortable to sit on a broken toilet seat. Another problem with the second en-suite bathroom was the shower flooded the floor (water overspill). So we could not use this shower, once we had switched bedrooms (reason later explained below). This caused us inconvenience and annoyance, showering in the master bedroom en-suite and sleeping in the other smaller bedroom. It just was not right, at all. Another health and safety issue was the exposed wires in the lounge by the blue sofa. We had our dog with us, and just like children, she does not know this is dangerous to touch. We had to constantly keep an eye on her, and in the end we blocked it with the sofa. This is the last thing people want to think about on holiday! Just a simple safety box could have ruled this hazard out. It seems the owner of this villa has neglected the place, and as a result, these smaller problems have all mounted up to bigger problems. Even the hedge in the garden overlooking the sea view horizon also needed trimming. Little touches like this make a huge difference in a holiday home. This house cost us a great deal of money and to be quite frank, it was not worth it with all these problems (the worst yet to come). In terms of other general house issues, the showers turned cold after five minutes. We did inform the agency and they told us to ‘adjust the boiler’. Now this is completely unrealistic when we don’t know how the boiler works. Do they really expect us to be reading a boiler manual on our vacation? After swimming in the sea, a hot shower is always desired, and even this was not possible for us. We also complained to the agency about the bathroom windows left open and not a single mosquito or insect screen in place. Their response to that was: ‘it is not part of our service’. How ridiculous does that sound? Such an expensive property and so much to pay for our stay there, and no screens? As we showered, we had mosquitos and other flying bugs sticking to our bodies! They were all over the ceiling and walls. So we had to keep the bathroom doors all shut so they did not come into the bedrooms. How did we know, that these bugs were the least of our worries to follow... The biggest, most upsetting and most traumatic problem was the bed bugs infestation. After night one at the villa, my partner and I woke up to frantic itching all over our bodies. Initially, we thought it was the mosquitos escaping from the bathroom, but when we looked closely at the bites, they seemed different to normal mosquito bites (red spots as opposed to small lumps). My partner, especially, suffered most of all from this main dilemma. His skin became extremely raw from all the scratching and he was bleeding. We still thought that it was a mosquito problem but only started to doubt this when we could not hear mosquitos in the bedroom and we were still being attacked! On day three, we realized it must be something in the mattress, and after some inspecting and researching, we discovered old blood specks on the mattress from previous stayers (see attached pictures of bites and mattress as evidence). Finally, the penny dropped, and we knew it was bed bugs. We immediately called the agency, and they promised for someone to come out to take a look at the problem. But in the meantime, we had to move all our unpacked things over to the smaller bedroom, and yet we were hesitant to sleep in the house, scared of being bitten more! The itchiness did not stop all week so we ended up spending more money on gels, lotions and potions at a pharmacy. This whole mess could have been avoided by a prior check of the mattresses. It was our dream holiday turned into our worst nightmare. A final point about the lack of communication with the Italian company/agency who was dealing with us. They failed to communicate with us on several occasions and let us down all the time. It was as if we were dumped in the house on the first day and left to be bitten to death by bed bugs. Some instances of bad communication from them are: Informed us to meet with them on the penultimate day then said no need (confused messages) No response from them when we wanted to inquire about an earlier boat home (simply ignored our texts) Asked for passport details in the middle of our holiday while we were out on day trips (as someone had forgotten to do so on arrival) No one turned up after the bed bug complaint after an appointment was made and I waited for an hour for them! As you can see, this is unacceptable and unprofessional of them, and is no way to treat paying guests. On late arrival, no water or coffees were available for us, and supermarkets were closed! We did not want to drink the tap water, and therefore, we felt dehydrated! This is poor treatment. Simply, poor treatment. br/
